Profile
Setting
Nestled on the eastern outskirts of Paarl, Adara Palmiet Valley is a 16-hectare estate that showcases breathtaking mountain views, vineyards, guava orchards, jacaranda trees, and a lush, park-like garden with old oak trees. With roots dating back to the 18th century, this historical estate has been meticulously restored by its new owners, who also operate a boutique hotel on Lake Constance in Germany.
Lodgings
Accommodations are spread across four Cape Dutch buildings, including the original 1754 Jacaranda House and the converted old stables, Mountain View House. Rooms vary in style, from cozy thatch-roofed units with petite balconies to more spacious options with lounges, kitchenettes, patios, or private gardens with pools. Luxurious touches include sumptuous bed linens, marble bathrooms, air conditioning, underfloor heating, bathrobes, slippers, and TVs with Netflix. For added opulence, the Palace Suite and Presidential Suite feature full kitchens, dining areas, fireplaces, multiple bedrooms, and outdoor living spaces. The Vineyard House is available for exclusive use.
Things to Do
Relax by the pool, take leisurely walks around the estate, or dine on Mediterranean cuisine at the restaurant. Enjoy estate wines (chenin or shiraz) on the sundeck. Nearby attractions include a cheetah sanctuary, Franschhoek Wine Tram stop, Paarl Rock, and various Winelands activities such as wine-tasting, mountain-biking trails, and golf courses. Cape Town is also within easy reach.
